Finding the Light in Notting Hill’s Back Alleys

There’s something incredibly rewarding about taking a step off the beaten path. While everyone else is busy photographing the famous pastel storefronts of Notting Hill, I wanted to find the quiet, textured spaces just a few streets over.

For this shoot, we headed straight for the back alleys—places where the light gets interesting, bouncing off brickwork and metallic fire escapes.

  • The Collaboration: I was working with an incredible model who absolutely understood the assignment. Their presence and posing brought a grounded, effortless energy to these quiet corners.
  • The Magic in the Edit: While the raw frames had great structure, the real breakthrough happened in the digital darkroom. I really wanted to lean into a specific mood, and through a careful editing process and a meticulous color grade, the whole series clicked into place.

It’s a reminder that a great portrait is only half-built in the camera; the rest is about dialing in that final color palette to bring the atmosphere to life.
